How this page knows whether Kalshi is down

Rivo is the prediction market terminal for Kalshi, Polymarket, Polymarket US and Gemini. It reads every market and every trade on each venue around the clock. This page shows that record for Kalshi: the time of the newest large trade Rivo recorded and the count for each of the last 24 hours.

Kalshi prints large trades every minute of a normal day, so the record is a direct read of the exchange. Fresh trades mean the matching engine is up and orders are filling. A gap of twenty minutes or more means trading has stopped or slowed to a crawl.

The record measures trading on the exchange. It does not see inside your account. A failed login, a deposit that has not arrived or a declined card can happen while Kalshi trades normally, and the checklist below covers each of those.

Kalshi publishes its trading hours and its planned maintenance windows. The exchange may be unavailable during a window, which shows up here as a stretch of short or empty bars.

What to check when Kalshi will not load

Work down this list. It separates a problem on your side from a problem at Kalshi in about two minutes.

  1. Read the verdict at the top of this page. Fresh trades mean the exchange is up and the problem sits between you and Kalshi. A long gap means the problem is at Kalshi and nothing on your side fixes it.
  2. Switch between the app and kalshi.com. The mobile app and the website fail separately. One often works while the other does not.
  3. Change your connection. Move from Wi-Fi to mobile data or back. Turn off a VPN: Kalshi checks your location and refuses a connection that appears to come from a place it does not serve.
  4. Update the app or reload the page. An old app version stops connecting after a required update. On the web, a full reload clears a stale session.
  5. Look for a notice from Kalshi. Kalshi posts planned maintenance and incidents in the app and in its help center.
  6. Treat money movement as its own system. Deposits and withdrawals run through card networks and banks. They stall on their own schedule while trading carries on.
  7. Check whether one market is paused. A single market that will not take orders while the rest trade has usually closed for settlement.

Your positions stay put during an outage

Your positions and your cash sit with Kalshi's exchange and clearinghouse, not in the app on your phone. Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated exchange, covered in Is Kalshi legit. An app that will not load does not close a position, cancel a payout or change what a contract pays. When Kalshi comes back, your holdings are where you left them.

The real cost of an outage is the trade you could not place: the exit you wanted during a live game, or the entry at a price that is gone when the screen comes back. That is the problem worth solving ahead of time.

Trade the same event on another venue

The biggest events trade on several exchanges at once. The Super Bowl, the NBA title, the Fed decision and control of Congress all have live markets on more than one venue, each with its own order book. When Kalshi stalls, the same question is usually still trading on Polymarket US and Gemini for US residents, and on polymarket.com outside the US.

Rivo puts those venues in one terminal. One search finds the market on every venue that lists it. One order ticket shows the live book, the fee and your fill before you send. One portfolio shows every connected account. A trader with two funded accounts keeps trading through an outage on either one.

Get told the moment a market moves

Outages cluster around the busiest moments: a game going final, an election call, a Fed announcement. Those are the minutes when prices move the most. Rivo watches the markets you pick and alerts you in the app, on your phone and on Telegram when a price crosses your level, jumps inside the hour, or draws a large trade.

Set the alert once and you learn about the move from Rivo, on any venue, whether or not one app is having a bad day. Price alerts cover a single market. Trader alerts follow the people whose bets you want to see.

Frequently asked questions

Is Kalshi down right now?

The top of this page answers from Rivo's live record of Kalshi trades. Fresh trades mean the exchange is matching orders. A gap of twenty minutes or more means trading has stopped or slowed.

Why is Kalshi not working?

When the exchange is trading, the cause is on the way to it: an outdated app, a VPN or network that Kalshi's location check rejects, an expired session, or an account waiting on identity verification. Switch between the app and kalshi.com first.

Does Kalshi go down for maintenance?

Yes. Kalshi publishes its trading hours and its planned maintenance windows, and the exchange may be unavailable during a window.

Is my money safe when Kalshi is down?

Yes. Your cash and positions are held by Kalshi's exchange and clearinghouse, which the CFTC regulates. An outage of the app or the website does not touch them, and settled markets still pay out.

Why is my Kalshi deposit not working?

Deposits run through card networks and banks, separate from trading. A card deposit fails when the issuer declines it. A bank transfer takes business days to settle. Neither means the exchange is down.

Why can't I log in to Kalshi?

A login fails most often on an outdated app, a network or VPN that fails Kalshi's location check, or a session that expired. Update the app, turn off the VPN and try kalshi.com in a browser.

Can I trade somewhere else while Kalshi is down?

Yes. The biggest events also trade on Polymarket US and Gemini for US residents and on polymarket.com outside the US. Rivo shows the same market on every venue that lists it and trades each one through your own connected account.
