How to withdraw from Kalshi

Every method, fees and how long it takes

10 min readยทUpdated Sep 27, 2026

Kalshi charges no withdrawal fee on any method. Open your balance, choose Withdraw, pick a method, enter the amount and confirm. A debit card withdrawal usually lands within a few hours, crypto within about 30 minutes, and a bank transfer in a few business days.

The part people get wrong is the security hold on fresh deposits. It explains most of the "Kalshi froze my money" posts on Reddit. This guide covers every method, the hold rules in plain numbers, the reasons a withdrawal fails, and which method we pick and why.

Kalshi withdrawal methods at a glance

MethodKalshi feeTypical timeWho can use it
Debit card, Apple Pay, Google PayFreeWithin a few hoursUS and international
Bank transfer (ACH)FreeA few business daysUS only
CryptoFreeAbout 30 minutesAccounts with an earlier crypto deposit
PayPalFreeNot publishedUS only, some states excluded
VenmoFreeNot publishedUS only, some states excluded
Cash AppNot offeredDeposits only

One gap in Kalshi's own help center: the transfers FAQ lists wire under deposits and withdrawals, but the wire article describes it as a deposit method only. Plan on using wire to deposit and pick another method to withdraw.

How to withdraw from Kalshi step by step

  1. Open your balance in the Kalshi app or on kalshi.com.
  2. Choose Withdraw.
  3. Pick debit card, bank, PayPal, Venmo or crypto.
  4. Enter the amount, up to your withdrawable balance.
  5. Confirm.

Only cash can leave. A position that's still open counts toward your portfolio value, not your withdrawable cash, so sell it or wait for the market to settle first.

Withdraw from Kalshi to a debit card

  • Speed: within a few hours. The transfers FAQ calls card payouts "normally instant".
  • Fee: none from Kalshi.
  • Limit: a daily cap set per account, which goes up as you use it.
  • Cards: debit cards, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. Some regions aren't supported, such as cards issued in Puerto Rico.
  • Catch: a compliance review can pause card withdrawals for three to five business days.

Withdraw from Kalshi to a bank account

  • Speed: a few business days.
  • Fee: none.
  • Who: US accounts only.
  • Catch: a closed bank account bounces the money back to your Kalshi balance, and the name on the bank account must match yours.

Withdraw from Kalshi to PayPal or Venmo

  • Fee: none.
  • Who: US accounts, with some states excluded.
  • Catch: the name on your PayPal or Venmo account must match your Kalshi name exactly.
  • Timing: Kalshi publishes no payout time for either.

Withdraw from Kalshi to a crypto wallet

  • Speed: within about 30 minutes.
  • Fee: none from Kalshi. Network fees depend on the chain.
  • Rule: crypto withdrawals require an earlier crypto deposit.
  • Provider: Zero Hash handles US crypto transfers. International accounts use a different provider.
  • Catch: an unsupported coin or network will fail, and you may need to pass a document check first.

Double-check the address and the network. A crypto transfer sent to the wrong address is gone for good. Neither Kalshi nor anyone else can reverse it.

The Kalshi security hold explained

Kalshi holds fresh deposits from methods where the money can be pulled back after the fact. The rules, from Kalshi's security holds article updated August 14, 2026:

Deposit methodHoldDetail
Debit card, Apple Pay, Google PayUntil the deposit settlesUp to 2 extra days to withdraw by a different method
ACH bank transferUntil the deposit settlesPart credits at once, the bank debit takes 1 to 4 business days, full settlement near 5 business days, then up to 2 extra days for a different method
PayPalNone
VenmoNone
Cash AppNone
CryptoNone
WireNone

The two rules people miss:

  • The hold covers the deposit, not your winnings. Settled winnings above your deposits leave right away.
  • Switching methods costs time. If you deposit by card and withdraw to the same card, you skip the extra two days.

A worked example

You deposit $500 by ACH on Monday. You buy 1,150 Yes contracts at 40 cents on a Tuesday game for $460.00. The taker fee adds $19.32 (0.07 x 1,150 x 0.40 x 0.60, rounded up). Your side wins, and the market settles Tuesday night for $1,150.00.

  • Your cash balance now reads $1,170.68.
  • The $670.68 above your deposit is withdrawable right after settlement.
  • The $500 deposit stays held until the ACH settles, near the following Monday.
  • If you withdraw the $500 by a method other than ACH, the hold can run up to two days longer.

Fee math for every price sits in Kalshi fees explained.

Kalshi deposit fees matter for withdrawals

Withdrawals are free, so the real cost of moving money is on the deposit side.

Deposit methodKalshi feeHold
ACH bank transferFreeYes, about 5 business days

The minimum deposit is $10, or $1,000 by wire. Wires received by Kalshi Klear before 4pm Eastern credit the same day.

From deposit to cash in hand

The full round trip depends on both ends. Here's the timeline for each pairing, based on Kalshi's published rules:

Deposit byWithdraw byDeposited money leaves afterWinnings leave after

Before you hit withdraw

  1. Check your cash balance, not your portfolio value. Open positions don't count.
  2. Check the deposit date on any card or ACH deposit from the last week.
  3. Withdraw the same way you deposited to skip the extra two days.
  4. Confirm the name on the receiving account matches your Kalshi name.
  5. For crypto, confirm the coin, the network and the address twice.
  6. Screenshot the confirmation screen. Support will ask for details if something stalls.

What withdrawal complaints mean in practice

We read the Kalshi withdrawal threads on Reddit and the review sites and matched each common complaint to Kalshi's written rules.

What people postWhat usually happenedOur verdict
My money shows but withdraw is greyed outThe balance includes an unsettled card or ACH depositRule working as written
Kalshi took a week to pay meACH deposit hold near 5 business days plus an ACH payout of a few moreRule working as written, but slow
They locked my withdrawal for no reasonA compliance review, three to five business daysReal friction, little warning from Kalshi
PayPal withdrawal failedA name mismatch or a state without PayPal accessFixable on your side
Crypto withdrawal option missingNo earlier crypto deposit on the accountRule working as written
Support never answeredSlow, mostly automated supportReal complaint

What we think: the hold rules are strict but public. Kalshi deserves the criticism for giving little warning before a review and for slow support. It doesn't deserve the "they keep your money" label. The fix on your side: fund by wire, RTP or PayPal when speed matters, and keep one method in and out.

How to get help with a stuck withdrawal

  1. Check the security hold rules above against your deposit dates first. Most stuck withdrawals clear on schedule.
  2. Open the Kalshi help center from the app or kalshi.com and start a support request from inside your account.
  3. Include the withdrawal amount, method, date and a screenshot of the confirmation.
  4. For crypto, include the transaction hash and the network.
  5. Answer document requests fast. A pending ID check blocks every crypto payout.
  6. Give support three to five business days during a compliance review before escalating.

Withdrawal scams to avoid

  • Fake support accounts. A message offering to "speed up" your Kalshi withdrawal is a scam. Kalshi support never asks for your password.
  • Release fees. Kalshi charges no withdrawal fee. Anyone asking for a deposit or crypto payment to release your money is stealing.
  • Lookalike sites. Log in at kalshi.com or the official app only.
  • Shared API keys. A key given to a stranger can place orders on your account. A key connected to Rivo can only place orders and can't withdraw, but the rule holds for any tool: never hand a key to a service you haven't checked.

Which method we would pick

  • Small, frequent trader: deposit by PayPal (first deposit free, no hold) and withdraw by PayPal or debit card. Watch the 2% on later PayPal deposits.
  • Larger balance: deposit by wire or RTP. Both are free, and wire carries no hold. Withdraw by ACH, free, in a few days.
  • Want cash back today: debit card, within hours. Keep the same card for deposits to dodge the extra two days.
  • Crypto native: deposit crypto first, then withdraw crypto within about 30 minutes.
  • Skip: card deposits on large amounts. 2% on $5,000 is $100 gone before your first trade.

Withdraw from Kalshi outside the US

Kalshi opens accounts in most countries after identity and residence checks, except the 55 restricted countries in the September 2026 Member Agreement. International accounts:

  • Deposit by Visa or Mastercard debit, wire ($1,000 minimum) or crypto.
  • Withdraw by debit card or crypto.
  • Bank, PayPal and Venmo withdrawals are US only.

Taxes and your SSN

You can withdraw by card, bank, PayPal and Venmo without giving an SSN. Kalshi only asks for it once you earn more than $10 a year in interest on your balance, or more than $600 a year in incentive credits, because both count as taxable income. Kalshi pays a 3.25% variable APY on balances of $250 or more for US accounts, so a $400 balance held all year crosses the $10 interest line.

Moving money from Kalshi to Polymarket

Traders who use both venues move cash between them to chase a better price. There's no direct transfer, so these are the routes:

  • Kalshi to Polymarket US: withdraw from Kalshi to your bank by ACH, then deposit to Polymarket US by ACH or debit card. Plan on a week door to door.
  • Kalshi to polymarket.com: withdraw crypto from Kalshi in about 30 minutes, after an earlier crypto deposit, then deposit to your Polymarket wallet. polymarket.com blocks new positions from the US, so this route serves international accounts only.
  • Skip the transfer: keep a working balance on each venue and trade both from one Rivo order ticket, which shows each venue's book and exact fee side by side.

Price gaps between venues shrink fast, and fees on both legs eat most of them. The math sits in prediction market arbitrage.

Where Rivo fits

Rivo never touches your Kalshi money. It's a $15 a month terminal on top of Kalshi, Polymarket, Polymarket US and Gemini, and every dollar stays in your Kalshi account.

  • Your key has no withdrawal rights. A Kalshi copy trading bot places entries through your own Kalshi API key, encrypted at rest and wiped when you disconnect. It can place orders. It can never move money out.
  • Bots stop on their own. A live bot pauses when your Kalshi account runs short of cash or loses its connection, and resumes once you fund or reconnect.
  • Check before you fund. The Kalshi leaderboard ranks named traders by profit on settled markets. On September 27, 2026 the top 200 made about $7.9 million combined.
  • Watch the tape. The Kalshi whale tracker shows large trades as they print.

Frequently asked questions

How do I withdraw money from Kalshi?

Open your balance in the app or on kalshi.com, choose Withdraw, pick debit card, bank (ACH), PayPal, Venmo or crypto, enter the amount and confirm. Kalshi charges no withdrawal fee on any method.

How long does a Kalshi withdrawal take?

Debit card withdrawals usually land within a few hours, crypto within about 30 minutes, and bank (ACH) withdrawals in a few business days. Kalshi doesn't publish a time for PayPal or Venmo.

Does Kalshi charge a withdrawal fee?

No. Kalshi charges nothing to withdraw by debit card, bank, PayPal, Venmo or crypto. Deposits are a different story: a card deposit can carry up to a 2% processing fee, and PayPal deposits after the first carry up to 2%.

Why can't I withdraw from Kalshi?

Usually one of four things: a recent card or ACH deposit hasn't settled, the money is tied up in open positions, the name on your PayPal, Venmo or bank account doesn't match your Kalshi name, or your account is under a compliance review. Crypto withdrawals also need an earlier crypto deposit.

What is the Kalshi security hold?

Money deposited by debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or ACH becomes withdrawable once the deposit settles. Withdrawing it by a different method can add up to two more days. PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, crypto and wire deposits have no hold, and the hold never applies to winnings above your deposits.

Is there a Kalshi withdrawal limit?

Debit card withdrawals have a daily limit that Kalshi sets per account and raises as you use it. Kalshi doesn't publish a fixed minimum or maximum for withdrawals.

Can I withdraw from Kalshi to PayPal or Venmo?

Yes, in the US, and it's free. They aren't available in every state, and the name on the PayPal or Venmo account has to match your Kalshi account. Cash App works for deposits only.

Can I withdraw from Kalshi to my bank account?

Yes, by ACH, for US accounts. It's free and takes a few business days. If the bank account has been closed, the money goes back to your Kalshi balance.

How do I withdraw from Kalshi outside the US?

International accounts can withdraw by debit card or crypto. Bank, PayPal and Venmo withdrawals are US only.

Do I need my SSN to withdraw from Kalshi?

Not for card, bank, PayPal or Venmo withdrawals. Kalshi only asks for your SSN once you earn over $10 a year in interest or $600 a year in incentive credits. Crypto withdrawals can trigger a document check.
